The airport size was increased from 1700 m2 to 3900 m2. The project included remodeling the airport cafe, plus a new Air NZ Koru Lounge and redesigned passenger lounge areas. The check-in desks and baggage handling areas were also relocated within the new airport floorplan.

The project involved an extensive renovation plus expansion of the existing terminal.
